Document! Time passes, and you won't regret the memories you capture!
I know that I sometimes get caught up in making my art. I will think deeply about taking a photo, thinking about many aspects of it, and try to create exactly what my vision was calling for. The last few weekends were amazing, full of family and celebrations of some BIG milestones. The past few weekends were also full of the moment’s that are just “life”. I want to take a moment, and maybe I am trying to remind myself of this, but also encourage you to take the snapshot, and don’t worry so much about it being anything other than documenting what you love and what makes you happy!! Even when they are grown up!!!
This blog will be a hodgepodge, and a glance into those moments in my world! We had a college graduation party, a birthday party, two Father’s days, a move from another city, and a whole bunch of family time (minus the lone boy counterpart), with 4 of our brood!
First, we finally had our family celebration of Gabby’s graduation!
The next event was my birthday! Remember how important it is to let the camera be turned on yourself if you are like me, and serve as the primary shooter in the group! It’s not for you, it’s for everyone else to have those memories!
I haven't had both girls at home at the same extended time, for many years! They are both doing online summer courses, and both hunkered down and got to business this evening, and I was a fly on the wall!
Father’s days!! We must celebrate these amazing men, who are such a strong presence in the lives of their children, grandchildren, and children who aren’t their’s biologically! I am blessed to celebrate Chris as well as my own amazing Dad!!
Since the weekend before just wasn’t busy enough, we added a weekend long move for Gabby and I!! Fun girls time but a LOT of work!! I took my new birthday camera, a gift from Chris, and tried out the Instax Wide!! I LOVE it!!!
PHEWWW, so I think that wraps it up for now!! Typically, the day to day isn’t as full as this blog makes it seem! Our 5 are all off on their own now, and so the house is quieter on a daily basis. Time passes whether we want it to or not, but I can tell you, MAKE the time to take those photos. Now and later. I MISS being able to photograph my girls like I used to. They could be watching TV, coloring, playing with friends, practicing their sport, or running outside to get in the sprinklers. I will never regret a picture, because I took it for a reason. The moment may have felt exciting, fleeting, happy, monumental or just something that I wanted permanently in my memory banks. It didn’t matter the reason, it was always important to me.
If you get like me, and you focus a ton on your art, remember to also pick up the camera purely to document life. As you can see, my images were taken on a multitude of cameras, from my iphone, to instant to my 35mm film camera to my pro digital camera. They all count! It doesn’t have to be perfect, or even pretty, or anything other than what you saw when you lifted the camera to your eye. You won’t regret it!
There can “never be too many”.
Love and health to you all!!
Thank you for being here and until next time…
