5 days fresh! Lifestyle family photos in the home.
Photographing a newborn can be very unpredictable, and very satisfying! Part of me loves that unpredictability of it, the fact that the baby may sleep the entire time, they may be fussy the entire time, or they may just be super chill and that’s great too!! lol
This little peanut was a mix of all three which made for a GREAT session!
I prefer to photograph newborns in the home, since I like to schedule a session within 2 weeks of delivery! Being able to get images while they are super bendy and before all the cradle cap and baby acne sets in is very important. Additionally, it is way more relaxing for mom and dad to not have to think about getting everyone ready to get out the door to go somewhere during this precious time! It’s more productive for everyone and getting a little glimpse into the lives of the families is so inspiring to me! Takes me back to when I had newborns and I am CERTAIN that these moms and dads had their stuff together way better than I did lol!! My hats off to them!
With this beautiful family, we met on a chilly morning when baby Lillyann was a mere 5 days fresh into this world. She was tiny, hungry, beautiful and absolutely perfect. Her big sister moved a mile a minute, such a happy girl with all kinds of ideas and things to talk about and share with me! I was over the moon happy to get to spend a few hours in this happy place that was so warm and inviting! The love was so evident!
Kim and Joey were relaxed, were perfectly ok with how things rolled out, and went with the flow. This is a great way for a parent to approach a lifestyle / family / newborn session! If you can let go of the reins for a minute, let me take them, and enjoy the ride, you will be surprised at the images we can make together!

This is not the first time I have photographed Neela. She is such a cool kid, super smart and was totally willing to be herself while I was there. We became fast friends and after she “Modeled” for me in mom and dad’s room, she showed me hers!
Grabbing some of the family all situated in a place they feel comfortable and relaxed. LOVE how when people don’t have to pose you can get some true emotion and reactions!
Once Lillyann got a snack, we were able to get some of her on her own, her debut… ;-)
There are so many moments to capture in life. The perfect moments, in hindsight, aren’t always the ones that you may have expected!
This little family is such a beautiful sight. I was so fortunate to get to be in their world of life with a newborn and a toddler for a few hours, and create.
Thank you Joey, Kim, Neela and Lillyann for welcoming me into your home!
Until next week…
